ROCKAWAY TWP. — A Lake Hopatcong woman suffered internal injuries after her vehicle struck a tractor-trailer truck on Route 80 East at 7:46 a.m., causing several traffic lanes to close down for about two hours, police said.

Jasmine Marcial, 22, was driving a black 2001 Honda CRV in one of the highway’s center lanes when she lost control of the vehicle and rear-ended a tractor-trailer truck driven by Joseph Smith, 59, of Bronx, N.Y., said Sgt. Stephen Jones of the New Jersey State Police.

The accident happened near milepost 34.6 and caused all four eastbound lanes to shut down.

Marcial was entrapped and the Rockaway Township Fire Department arrived at the scene to extricate her. She was transported by Medevac to Morristown Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released.

Smith was not injured, Jones said.
